Experienced Worker Test

Novice Course
New to fall arrest training? Learn safe practices, equipment use, and industry best practices. Upon completion, you’ll receive NPORS certification, ideal for businesses training staff or individuals preparing for fall protection roles.

Course Objectives
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular harness / fall arrest to be used
- Be able to locate and identify major components of the harness / fall arrest and explain their functions
- Conduct all safety checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Select suitable type of harness / fall arrest relative to the work being undertaken
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for use harness / fall arrest and demonstrate correct use
- Correctly fit and remove the safety harness / fall arrest
- Carry out end of work inspections
- Environmental considerations
- Storage of harness / fall arrest
Entry Requirements:
- Previous Qualification: No specific previous qualifications are required, but prior experience in using harnesses and fall arrest systems is beneficial.
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months practical experience working in environments where fall protection equipment is used is recommended to ensure readiness for the course.
- Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 18 years old.
- Language Proficiency: A good understanding of English, both spoken and written, is required to ensure safety and successful participation in assessments.
Course assessment
The assessment for this course includes both theoretical and practical components:
- Theoretical Assessment: A written test covering key safety practices, fall protection techniques, and equipment maintenance.
- Practical Assessment: A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to use fall arrest equipment safely and effectively in various scenarios.
- Experienced Worker Test (Test Only): For experienced workers, the assessment focuses on validating your existing skills in harness and fall arrest techniques.
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency in harness and fall arrest operation.
