Experienced Worker Test
For those with hands-on experience, our NPORS Slinger Signaller Experienced Worker Test allows you to demonstrate your skills and earn the official NPORS certification. You’ll be assessed on signaling techniques, load management, and safety protocols, boosting your employability in the lifting and construction sectors.
Novice Course
If you’re new to slinger/signaller operations, our NPORS Slinger Signaller Novice Course covers safe signaling, slinging techniques, and industry best practices. After completion, you’ll receive NPORS certification, preparing you for a career in lifting operations.

Course Objectives
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Explain the hazards of working in the construction industry, and their responsibilities as a slinger/signaller
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of the lift team
- Identify information relating to the preparation for the slinging and signalling of loads
- Identify and explain the different types of lifting equipment and lifting accessories
- Undertake all pre-use checks on lifting accessories
- Identify and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and appropriate safety control equipment for slinger/signaller use
- Explain procedures for placing non-serviceable items out-of-service
- Identify and explain centres of gravity and establish weights of loads
- Ensure the work area is clear of hazards and ensure that all safety checks at the work area have been carried out
- Attach various types of loads to lifting equipment using the relevant lifting accessories and procedures ensuring load balance, security, and integrity
- Direct and guide the movement of loads to different types of locations using different methods of communication with crane or lifting equipment operator
- Detach various types of loads from the lifting equipment using relevant procedures
- Explain environmental considerations
- Carry out all post lifting checks and securing procedures
Entry Requirements
- Previous Qualification: Candidates must have successfully completed the Slinger Signaller course or possess equivalent experience and knowledge in lifting operations.
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months practical experience in slinging and signalling loads is recommended.
- Age Requirement: All participants must be at least 16 years old.
- Language Proficiency: A good understanding of English, both spoken and written, is required to ensure safety and successful participation in assessments.
Course assessment
The assessment for this course includes both theoretical and practical components:
- Theoretical Assessment: A written test covering key safety practices, slinging techniques, and signaling methods.
- Practical Assessment: A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to safely sling and signal loads in various scenarios.
- Experienced Worker Test (Test Only): For experienced workers, the assessment focuses on validating your existing skills in slinging and signaling operations.
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency as a slinger signaller.
