We offer two NPORS Overhead Crane (N104) training options for businesses in construction, logistics, and utilities:

Experienced Worker Test
For experienced operators, this test allows your team to demonstrate their skills and earn NPORS certification, validating their expertise in overhead crane operation, site safety, and task handling.

Novice Course
For upskilling, this course provides essential training on safe operation and crane control. Upon completion, they’ll receive NPORS certification, ensuring safe and efficient operation within your business.

Course Objectives

It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
  • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
  • Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
  • Set up exclusion zone
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for overhead crane use
  • Conduct all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
  • Prepare the overhead crane for use and operate machine safely and efficiently
  • Environmental considerations
  • Carry out all end of work and shut down procedures

Entry Requirements

Previous Qualification
Candidates must have successfully completed the relevant Overhead Crane training or possess equivalent experience and knowledge in operating the machine.

Experience
A minimum of 3 months practical experience operating the overhead crane is recommended.

Age Requirement
All participants must be at least 16 years old.

Language Proficiency
A good understanding of English, both spoken and written, is required to ensure safety and successful participation in assessments.

Course assessment

Theoretical Assessment
A written test covering key safety practices, overhead crane operation, and maintenance.

Practical Assessment
A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to safely operate the overhead crane in various scenarios.

Experienced Worker Test (Test Only)
For experienced workers, the assessment focuses on validating your existing skills in overhead crane operation.

Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency in overhead crane operation.
