Puller Winch – N033
We offer two NPORS Puller Winch (N033) training options for businesses in construction, logistics, and utilities:
Experienced Worker Test
For experienced workers, this test allows your team to demonstrate their skills and earn NPORS certification, validating their expertise in puller winch operation, site safety, and task handling.
Novice Course
For upskilling, this course provides essential training on safe puller winch operation and control. Upon completion, they’ll receive NPORS certification, ensuring safe and efficient operation within your business.

Course Objectives
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Be able to conform to manufacturers requirements as per technical data, conform to relevant regulations and legislation
- Be able to locate, identify and explain different types of puller winch and explain their basic construction, uses, applications and functions
- Be able to interpret and extract information on all relevant documentation
- Undertake all pre-use inspection on puller winch and identify non-serviceable items
- Explain procedures for placing non-serviceable items out of service
- Set up exclusion zone explaining actions required for emergency actions and identifying hazards
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for winching duties
- Winch and guide the movement of the load from various locations using different methods of communication
- Environmental considerations
- Carry out all out of service and securing procedures
Entry Requirements
Previous Qualification
Candidates must have successfully completed the relevant Puller Winch training or possess equivalent experience and knowledge in operating a puller winch.
Experience
A minimum of 3 months practical experience in operating a puller winch is recommended.
Age Requirement
All participants must be at least 16 years old.
Language Proficiency
A good understanding of English, both spoken and written, is required to ensure safety and successful participation in assessments.
Course assessment
Theoretical Assessment
A written test covering key safety practices, puller winch operation, and maintenance.
Practical Assessment
A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to safely operate the puller winch in various scenarios.
Experienced Worker Test (Test Only)
For experienced workers, the assessment focuses on validating your existing skills in puller winch operation.
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency in puller winch operation.
