We offer two NPORS Safe Use of Stepladders and Ladders – N711 training options:
Experienced Worker Test
For experienced workers, this test allows your team to demonstrate their skills and earn NPORS certification, validating their expertise in the safe use of stepladders and ladders, worksite safety, and task execution.
Novice Course
For upskilling, this course provides essential training on the safe and proper use of stepladders and ladders. Upon completion, participants will receive NPORS certification, ensuring safe and efficient ladder operations within your business.

Course Objectives
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular ladder to be used
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the ladder and explain their functions
- Conduct all safety checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Select suitable type of ladder, relative to the work being undertaken
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for ladder use
- Erect, dismantle and relocate ladder safely and efficiently
- Carry out end of work inspections
- Environmental considerations
- Storage of ladder
Entry Requirements
Previous Qualification
Candidates must have successfully completed the relevant Safe Use of Stepladders and Ladders training or possess equivalent experience and knowledge in using stepladders and ladders safely.
Experience
A minimum of 3 months practical experience in the safe use of stepladders and ladders is recommended.
Age Requirement
All participants must be at least 16 years old.
Language Proficiency
A good understanding of English, both spoken and written, is required to ensure safety and successful participation in assessments.
Course assessment
Theoretical Assessment
A written test covering key safety practices, proper use, and maintenance procedures for stepladders and ladders.
Practical Assessment
A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to safely use stepladders and ladders in various scenarios.
Experienced Worker Test (Test Only)
For experienced workers, the assessment focuses on validating your existing skills in the safe use of stepladders and ladders.
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency in the safe use of stepladders and ladders.
