We offer two NPORS Strimmer – Brush Cutter – N605 training options:
Novice Course
For new operators, this course provides essential training on the safe operation and control of strimmers and brush cutters. Upon completion, participants will receive NPORS certification, ensuring safe and efficient operations within your business.
Experienced Worker Test
For experienced operators, this test allows your team to demonstrate their skills and earn NPORS certification, validating their expertise in strimmer and brush cutter operation, site safety, and task handling.

Course Objectives
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Set up exclusion zone
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Select suitable type of machine relative to the work being undertaken
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for strimmer – brush cutter use
- Prepare the strimmer – brush cutter for use
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Operate machinery safely and efficiently
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transport of strimmer – brush cutter
- Disposal of cut materials
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
Entry Requirements
Previous Qualification
Candidates must have successfully completed the relevant Strimmer – Brush Cutter training or possess equivalent experience and knowledge in operating strimmers and brush cutters safely.
Experience
A minimum of 3 months practical experience in operating strimmers and brush cutters is recommended, though not essential. Onsite industry experience is also helpful in ensuring participants are familiar with the work environment and operational tasks.
Age Requirement
All participants must be at least 16 years old.
Language Proficiency
A good understanding of English, both spoken and written, is required to ensure safety and successful participation in assessments.
Course assessment
Theoretical Assessment
A written test covering key safety practices, regulations, and techniques for operating strimmers and brush cutters safely, including hazard identification and safe working practices.
Practical Assessment
A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to safely operate a strimmer and brush cutter and manage the equipment in various scenarios.
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency in strimmer and brush cutter operation.
