We offer two NPORS training options for both experienced operators and beginners:
- Novice Course: For beginners, this course covers safe operation, tool handling, and industry best practices, with NPORS certification upon completion.

Course Objectives
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook and be familiar with other sources of information available including relevant legislation
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for petrol driven cut off saw
- Select suitable type of abrasive wheel and battery / petrol cut off saw relative to the work being undertaken
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area and set up safety zone
- Prepare the machine for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transport of abrasive wheel and battery / petrol cut off saw
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
Entry Requirements
- Previous Qualification: Candidates must have successfully completed the Abrasive Wheels – Hand Held Cut Off Saw course or possess equivalent experience and knowledge in operating the equipment.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 months of practical experience operating the equipment is recommended.
- Age Requirement: All participants must be at least 16 years old.
- Language Proficiency: A good understanding of English, both spoken and written, is required to ensure safety and successful participation in assessments.
Course assessment
The assessment for this course includes both theoretical and practical components:
- Theoretical Assessment: A written test covering key safety practices, abrasive wheel operation, and maintenance.
- Practical Assessment: A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to safely operate the hand-held cut off saw in various scenarios.
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency in abrasive wheel operation.

We offer flexible training options at our training centres or at one of your locations to suit your convenience:
- On-site Training: Training can be arranged nationwide at your site, provided it meets the necessary safety and test specifications. Enquire for further details.
