Course Objectives
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for concrete pump use
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Prepare the concrete pump for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently
- Safe un-blocking and re-connecting procedures
- Prepare concrete pump for cleaning and carry out cleaning tasks safely and efficiently
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transport of implements and attachments
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
Entry Requirements
- Previous Qualification: Candidates must have relevant experience or training in operating mobile concrete pumps.
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months practical experience operating a mobile concrete pump is recommended for experienced training.
- Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 16 years old.
- Language Proficiency: A good understanding of spoken and written English is required for safety and assessments.
Course assessment
The assessment for this course includes both theoretical and practical components:
- Theoretical Assessment: A written test covering key safety practices, machine operation, and maintenance.
- Practical Assessment: A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to operate the mobile concrete pump safely and effectively in various scenarios.
- Experienced Workers, the assessment focuses on validating your existing skills through the Experienced Worker Test (Test Only).
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency in mobile concrete pump operation.
