Course Objectives
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for forward tipping mini dumper use
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Prepare the forward tipping mini dumper for use and operate safely and efficiently
- Attachments set correctly ready for operation
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transport of forward tipping mini dumper / implements / attachments
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
Entry Requirements:
Previous Qualification:
Candidates must have relevant experience or training in mini dumper operation.
Experience:
For experienced training, a minimum of 6 months practical experience operating a mini dumper is recommended. For novice training, no prior experience is required, but basic knowledge of site safety is helpful.
Age Requirement:
Participants must be at least 16 years old.
Language Proficiency:
A good understanding of spoken and written English is required for safety and assessments.
Course assessment
The assessment for this course includes both theoretical and practical components:
Theoretical Assessment:
A written test covering key safety practices, mini dumper operation, and site safety.
Practical Assessment:
A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to operate the mini dumper safely and effectively in various scenarios.
Experienced Workers:
The assessment focuses on validating your existing skills through the Experienced Worker Test (Test Only).
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency in operating a Forward Tipping Mini Dumper up to 1 Tonne.
