We offer two NPORS Plant/Vehicle Marshal training options tailored for both experienced operators and beginners:
- Experienced Worker Test
For those with hands-on experience, our NPORS Plant/Vehicle Marshal Experienced Worker Test allows you to demonstrate your skills and earn the official NPORS certification. You’ll be assessed on your understanding of site safety, traffic management, and vehicle movement protocols, enhancing your employability in various industries, including construction and logistics. - Novice Course
If you’re new to plant/vehicle marshalling, our NPORS Plant/Vehicle Marshal Novice Course provides essential training on site safety, vehicle control, and traffic management practices. Upon completion, you’ll receive NPORS certification, preparing you for a career in plant and vehicle marshalling.

Course Objectives
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry and the relevant legislation, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a vehicle/plant machinery marshal
- Have knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular vehicle/machine to be guided
- Have a good understanding of signs and signals, approved hand signals and different forms of communication
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for vehicle/plant machinery marshal
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area including stop blocks and tipping areas
- Set up exclusion zone for loading/unloading
- Guide machinery in a forward and reverse direction including confined spaces and “blind areas” safely and efficiently
- Environmental considerations
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down and parking procedures
Entry Requirements
- Previous Qualification: Candidates must have relevant experience or training in plant or vehicle marshalling or possess equivalent knowledge in the role.
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months practical experience in plant/vehicle marshalling is recommended.
- Age Requirement: All participants must be at least 16 years old.
- Language Proficiency: A good understanding of English, both spoken and written, is required to ensure safety and successful participation in assessments.
Course assessment
The assessment for this course includes both theoretical and practical components:
- Theoretical Assessment: A written test covering key safety practices, plant/vehicle marshalling techniques, and site protocols.
- Practical Assessment: A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to safely marshal plant and vehicles in various scenarios.
- Experienced Worker Test (Test Only): For experienced workers, the assessment focuses on validating your existing skills in plant/vehicle marshalling.
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency as a plant/vehicle marshal.
