- Novice Course:
For new operators, this course provides essential training on the safe operation and responsibilities of a vehicle marshal. Upon completion, participants will receive NPORS certification, ensuring safe and efficient vehicle management and site safety within your business. - Experienced Worker Test:
For experienced workers, this test allows your team to demonstrate their skills and earn NPORS certification, validating their expertise in vehicle marshaling, site safety, and task management. - Refresher Course:
For those who have previous experience and certification, this course is designed to refresh and update existing knowledge, ensuring operators remain compliant with current safety practices and regulations. Participants will receive NPORS certification upon successful completion.

Course Objectives
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions onand perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry and the relevant legislation, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a vehicle marshal
- Have knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular vehicle / machine to be guided
- Have a good understanding of signs and signals, approved hand signals and different forms of communication
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for vehicle marshal duties
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area including stop blocks and tipping areas
- Set up exclusion zone for unloading
- Guide machinery in a forward and reverse direction including confined spaces and “blind areas” safely and efficiently
- Environmental considerations
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down and parking procedures
Entry Requirements
Previous Qualification
Candidates must have successfully completed the relevant vehicle marshal training or possess equivalent experience and knowledge in vehicle marshalling safely.
Experience
A minimum of 3 months practical experience in vehicle marshalling is recommended, though not essential. Onsite industry experience is also helpful in ensuring participants are familiar with the work environment and operational tasks.
Age Requirement
All participants must be at least 16 years old.
Language Proficiency
A good understanding of English, both spoken and written, is required to ensure safety and successful participation in assessments.
Course assessment
Theoretical Assessment
A written test covering key safety practices, regulations, and techniques for vehicle marshalling safely, including hazard identification, safe traffic management, and site-specific procedures.
Practical Assessment
A hands-on test where you demonstrate your ability to safely manage vehicles on-site, direct traffic, and coordinate with operators and site personnel in various scenarios.
Upon successful completion, you will receive NPORS certification, validating your competency in vehicle marshalling.
